Luke's First Christmas

Merry Christmas! Luke had a wonderful time for his first Christmas! His favorite part was pulling the tissue paper out of his presents and eating it! He didn't care what the present was, he just liked the tissue paper!

Christmas Eve

It was the night before Christmas and all through the house, Mimi and Pawpaw were as quiet as a mouse!!

We had a great time Christmas Eve! Mimi, Pawpaw, Nate, Luke and I went to the Christmas Eve service. It was a fabulous time (however, refer to the blog about the Sunday before Christmas regarding 6 month olds and church....) Mimi and Pawpaw spent the night and we all celebrated Luke's 1st Christmas together.

I also made stockings this year for Nate, Luke, and me. I love snowmen (because they are easy to make), so we are a "snowmen stocking family." I used felt and cut out all the shapes and letters, then glued them on with fabric glue. I really enjoyed making them.

Hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas Eve too!

The Sunday Before Christmas

Like I've said before, one of my favorite things is going to church, and especially the Christmas Sunday. It's always so festive and the message is always so happy and quite a celebration of our Savior's Birth! It's a little different when you have a 6 month old, because half the time, you're not really able to listen carefully to what is being said....you're just making sure your child is not spitting up all over you or screaming right when it's completely quiet during a prayer! I still love hearing the message at church though, and I'm so glad we went last Sunday!

The Gaylord in Grapevine

Nate, Luke, and I went to The Gaylord in Grapevine yesterday. We heard it was decorated amazingly well for the Holidays and we wanted to check it out. Nate was especially interested because he heard there were trains! So, we went and we loved it! It was so much fun. Truly, Luke is a little young to really enjoy it, but he did great. He was so happy the whole time and did like seeing the trains. We even saw a real reindeer!! It had one antler! Unfortunately, our camera "died" on us while we were there, so we didn't get to take as many pictures as we wanted to. Oh well!! We will just have to go back....maybe when Luke is a little older!

Just a Week Away!

Luke is getting ready for his First Christmas. He's so serious in this picture. It cracks me up!!

Holiday Fun!

Nate and I have been "out on the town". We got to have a delicious dinner with Nate's company. It was a lot of fun. We also have been to a couple of different holiday parties with friends. Thanks to Mimi and PawPaw for babysitting Luke!

Spending Time with Mommy

Time Flies!! It's been forever since I've posted anything new. Luke and I have been enjoying spending time together, especially during this holiday season. He has been eating rice cereal mixed with applesauce each day. It's been a learning opportunity! He likes to play in his exersaucer, and also enjoys laying down on the floor playing with his toys. I will put him down on his back to play, and before I know it, he flips over to his tummy to see the world from a different point of view. Just wanted to send you a couple of fun pics so you can see how big he is getting.

Thanksgiving 2007 in Tyler, TX

Howdy!

Finally I get a chance to blog! This is Nate at the controls so hold on to your hats and return your trey tables and seatbacks to their full up right position. We had a great time this Thanksgiving in Tyler, TX. The Haynes' did a superb job of hosting and letting us crash in on them. Beth and I were very happy to hand Luke off to 11 different people! A great way to get some downtime and watch the Dallas Cowboys dismantle the hapless NY Jets. Luke had a great time talking, drooling and sticking his hands in his mouth. Grandma & Grandpa, Mimi & Pawpaw, Uncle Jon & Aunt Kristie along with Kristie's family all took turns handling the little guy. He is over 15 lbs now and is becoming quite a chunk. The food was out of this world and as usual I ate my birthweight in turkey, dressing and sweet potatoes. We truly had a great time seeing everyone. We even got a little snow. Imagine that 80* on Wednesday and 31* on Thursday, gotta love the fall in Texas. It lasts for 6 hours then it's Winter. Hope everyone has a great and wonderful Christmas!

Fun Times with my Oldest Cousin

Last weekend, Uncle Matt, Aunt Lori, and Kaitlyn came in town to see Luke. He enjoyed showing off his smile for his uncle, aunt, and cousin. We all had fun just catching up, shopping at Southlake Town Square, and eating yummy food. Thanks for driving to Keller to see us!

Giggle Giggle!

Luke's T-Shirt says it all!!
PS - Thanks Lauren for my T-shirt, too! I love it!

Luke's Friend, Brinley

A couple of weeks ago, Luke got to hang out with his friend Brinley. She's just a few months older than Luke (born on St. Patrick's Day!). She was so sweet to Luke, and really wanted to hold his hand. I don't know what Luke thought about that, but we sure did have fun!!

My Little Pumpkin

Luke is a pumpkin for Halloween....not that we are going trick-or-treating, but I just couldn't resist dressing him up. My dad has always called me his little pumpkin my whole life, and now I have a little pumkin of my own. Happy Halloween!

First Time for Everything....

Jeans. Yes, here is a picture of the first time Luke wore jeans...one of the many thousand times he will wear jeans the rest of his life! Aren't jeans great?

Bloom Where You're Planted!

Now that I have more time at home, one of my favorite things to do is cut flowers from my yard. I am looking forward to getting back out into the yard, once it gets cooler, so I can weed, trim and transplant some of my flowers. I think the flowers are a complete reflection of the beauty of the earth, and the best part is that they are free! I just love my perennials because they come back every year, bigger and bolder than the years before, and they are so cost effective! I enjoy putting the flowers in vases all around the house. I just wanted to show you some of my free arrangements. The purple asters are a fall perennial and I just love their vibrant color. I also have some red mini-roses blooming in my back yard flower pots. Enjoy the brilliance of God's creation!

Let's Go!

One of the most difficult things (actually several things seemed difficult at the time) for me at the beginning of being a new mom was not being physically able (after a C-Section) to make it to church, or anywhere else, for that matter. I always look forward to going to church each Sunday and being able to worship and grow in my faith. Well, we're back. We've been back at church now for 4 weeks, and I couldn't be happier. Luke has been doing really well in the nursery, which I'm really thankful for, and we have been enjoying our new pastor at First Baptist Colleyville. God has so richly blessed us, and I couldn't be happier (it also helps when your baby sleeps for an extended amount of time :)

Thank you GOD for all the many blessings!

Rub-a-dub-dub....Scrub-scrub-scrub

Bath Time is one of Luke's favorite parts of the day! I guess most babies like being in the water since it reminds them of where they were for 9 months. I love Luke's bath time because it truly is one of the most hilarious times!

I love my Satin Blanket

Since I was teaching school while I was pregnant, I was always amazed and humored by my students. They would make funny remarks and always ask about Baby Davis. At the end of the school year, several generous parents gave me baby gifts. Well, one of the gifts was a tiny brown satin blanket that retails for around $40, depending on which Southlake store you visit.

Well, when I was given this blanket, I couldn't imagine my son needing a blanket that was so expensive, especially when babies spit up as much as they do, let alone needing something that was satin - for a BOY! (at least it was brown, not pink) However, I have to report that this tiny, brown satin blanket is one of Luke's favorites. He loves having it near his face, I guess because it's soft. He will cling to it, and wave it around like a flag. I am so thankful now for this blanket, and I think what is so funny, is how much I didn't think he would like it! Boy am I thankful for his SATIN blanket!

I keep on smilin'

Last weekend, Luke decided to keep on smilin'. He was especially tickled when PawPaw and Mimi were making funny noises and farm animal sounds. Luke enjoyed spending time at his grandparent's house for the day. Nate and I got to go see a movie and really enjoyed our afternoon "date". Thanks so much for everything. It was a smiley time for everyone!

Celebrating PawPaw's Birthday

Last weekend, we celebrated PawPaw's birthday! We had a delicious meal, steak and potatoes, with a Mississippi Mud Cake to top it off. Needless to say, it was so yummy. We missed having Brad, Lauren and Jillian to celebrate with us. We were thinking about you all and know you all were there with us in spirit. Thanks so much for a grand celebration! I'm looking forward to the time when all nine of us are together :)

Labor Day Weekend

We traveled to Friendswood over Labor Day Weekend and had a chance to visit with family. The cousins, Kaitlyn and Luke, hung out, and we also celebrated Kaitlyn's and Mary's birthdays. Nate and I had a wonderful time and Luke decided to smile a ton for his grandparents. We also got to go on a date to Kemah while Grandma and Grandpa watched Luke. We had a super time! Thanks for a fabulous weekend!

A New Arrival

Well...our life has changed! We have a new addition to our family.

Luke Nathan Davis was born June 28, 2007. He weighed 5 lbs 15 oz, and was 18 3/4 in long. What an exciting new chapter in our lives. God has blessed us so richly!
