My Christmas Cactus

This is kind of a strange post, I know.... but I just had to share it. Back in 2004, my sweet grandmother passed away. She was my last living grandparents and it was quite sad for me. She had lived in Mississippi, and my family made the "trek" over to MS to clean out her retirement home apartment. As you all know, I do love plants, and she had a Christmas Cactus sitting in her long window. (If I remember correctly, she loved plants, in fact, both of my grandmothers did, which is why I think I like them so much, too.) Anyway, I really couldn't throw out this plant, so I decided to take it all the way home to Texas with me.
For years now, it really has not been a very "happy" plant. I've fertilized it and "baby-ed" it and tried to make it really shine, but it just didn't seem to be happy. Well, for some reason, it decided to go crazy this January. I do know that Christmas Cactus plants are much happier in the winter and the house temperature has to be below a certain degree in order for it to bloom. With this cold winter, (and I feel like our house is always freezing) - I have a beautiful, blooming Christmas Cactus in our family room. It is at least 6 years old. Who knows how long she had it before I started caring for it? I would love to know. I'll have to ask her someday :)
Rolling Over

Ruth Ann is four months old. She LOVES playing in her tent, especially with her yellow duck. It is one of her favorite toys. She also enjoys being on her tummy and exploring new toys. Just yesterday (January 22nd) she rolled from her back to her tummy! She can really 'get around'. In fact, she can move 180 degrees. You'll put her down facing one direction and before you know it, she has 'inched' to another position. Amazing! When will the crawling begin??

Great Great Aunt Barbara

Since both of my parents are only children, I never had any aunts or uncles (or 1st cousins...) so my "aunts" were my great aunts. My Great Aunt Barbara (my Grandmother's sister) sent these cute outfits for my kids. So I guess for my children, she would be their Great, Great Aunt?? I just had to share them with you! Thanks Aunt Barbara!

My baby girl....

Can't believe that Ruth Ann is four months old now. Time is flying! She has started to eat a little more (which is great because I think her tummy is feeling better now - thanks to the Prevacid....) And, she is eating rice cereal a few times each day, too. Yum, yum!
She enjoys kicking and looking up at her mobiles. She smiles and even laughs! I'm so thankful for the blessing that she is in our lives. (I'm also thankful that she is sleeping more, too :)
Christmas 2009

Yes, it's the middle of January and I'm just now posting about Christmas.....But, we had a wonderful celebration of the birth of Christ, our Savior.
It was a BLIZZARD (literally) at our home. Grandma, Grandpa, Mimi, and PawPaw all stayed at our house Christmas Eve. It was a fun celebration with lots of yummy food. Luke and Ruth Ann enjoyed all of their gifts! Luke especially enjoyed playing in the snow. It will be a Christmas to remember for sure!
We also took a little trip over to the Gaylord so we could see the trains and all the sights. It was fun, too! Thanks for making our Christmas so enjoyable!
